Don’ t be fooled by «Instaglam»

Don’ t be fooled by «Instaglam»

We all do it. We scroll through the polished beautiful and glamorous images on Instagram and we measure ourselves up against «them». And we lose. Every day. Many times a day. And with each perfect «insta pic» we consume our lives and our self-esteem takes a blow.

And the worst part of it is that we take that blow over something that isn’t real. It is made up, a highlighted and edited version of the truth.

I have seen it so many times. Filtered family scenarios that leave my crazy family looking like we need serious therapy. Hey, we could do with some guidance from someone calm with the ability to assess us from the outside, but so do many of the families I see portray themselves as the Brady bunch.

The difficult thing is that vulnerability is the first thing I look for in you and the last thing I’m willing to show you. In you, it’s courage and daring. In me, it’s weakness.

Behind the scenes are not always so pretty, polished and glamorous for any of us, and that is OK. It is actually more than OK. It is normal, it is what creates real connection and community.

So let’s dare to show life as it is, not how other’s prefer we portray it 😉

Live it real,
